Introduction
A puzzle, adventure, horror game with storytelling elements. The player experience goal is make the gameplay elicits feelings of urgency and motivates the player to navigate the terrified game world.
"The power goes out and The Institute locks everyone in. The only one left to reactivate the generators is you! Play as a repairman, armed with only his flashlight, and navigate the unfamiliar mazes of The Institute in the darkness in search of the generators. But something lurks in teh darkness. Stay alive in this 1st person thriller and shed light on The Institute's secrets! There are more than anyone could have ever thought."
Gameplay
The major part of the gameplay is player navigating through the maze (level). There is limited lighting in the maze, and in the darkness there is a horrible creature that players want to avoid. The only tool players has to defend themselves is a flash light, which provides extra light and the feeling of safety. However, battery supply for the flash light is also limited, so how to uitilize the flash light wisely is a challenge for players. In the maze, there are many different objets that player can interact with. Some of them tells the hidden story, but others can mislead you to the death.
About the Development
Developed by Crescent Games: Zijing Liu - Engineer & Designer, Vincent Rodriguez - Artist & Designer, Yingting Luo - Composer. This game is still in progress, and is developed for USC game program Intermediate Game course as well as for our inner love for video game development. Being the engineer, I am responsible for gameplay imeplementation. Finalized the current flash light system and object interaction built on the assets, built monster AI, elevated level lighting, and more.
